How big are the groups?
Depending on the premises and the age mix, between 7 and 12 children are looked after in each group.
How many carers work in each group?
Depending on the size of the group, one or two qualified staff members, supported by trainees and work experience students, look after the group of children. We also have sufficient qualified staff to cover for illness or holiday absences.
How do you help a child settle in?
Before the settling-in period begins, an initial meeting will take place with the group leader. Two weeks are set aside for the settling-in period (2–3 times a week, on an hourly basis). It is important that the settling-in period can run smoothly from the start – without any interruptions due to holidays or illness.
Does every child have to have an afternoon nap?
We do not force any child to sleep. However, for most children, the afternoon rest proves to be a welcome break during the long day. Children who do not wish to sleep are free to engage in a quiet activity – such as looking at books or listening to an audio story.
If a child is ill – can I still bring them in?
As long as your child is feeling well and the group is not affected, they can attend. If your child has a fever, a contagious illness or is feeling very unwell, we ask that you look after them at home.
Who should I contact if I have any questions or problems?
The group leader is responsible for your child’s development and care. In the event of any issues, the centre manager or the head of education are also available to help. For enquiries regarding your contract, invoices, changes of group or additional days of care, please contact the management and administration team on 044 350 61 66.
Is parental involvement expected?
We organise regular parents’ evenings, at which we’d be delighted if you could bring something along (cake, salad, etc.). However, parents are under no obligation whatsoever to contribute.
Can I visit the children’s centre?
Yes, of course. Please fill in the visiting form on our website. We’ll then arrange an appointment with you (on Fridays). The visit takes about 45 minutes.
